CCpur, September 16 2016:
With an eye on the upcoming Assembly election people seeking to pay homage or respect and other deeds to the 'tribal martyrs' have been gaining momentum in the recent past but the JAC AATB has today declared that it will not allow anyone to exploit the sacrifices of the 'martyrs' and the year-long unrelenting struggle of the tribal people.
The JAC-AATB said, the struggle for the protection of tribal land, rights and identity that began with the spontaneous reaction on the night of August 31, 2015 against the three infamous Bills passed by the Manipur Legislative Assembly has crossed one year.
"With the sacrifices made by our nine 'tribal martyrs' still fresh in our minds, our commitment to finish what our nine brave hearts started has become stronger with each passing day," added the JAC.
Despite it, in utter disregard to the sentiments of the tribal people and their year-long struggle, there have been several attempts by various political parties to gain political mileage out of the sacrifices made by the nine tribal 'martyrs' and the people trying to 'pay tributes' to the martyrs have been increasing in the recent past, it added.
The JAC-AATB therefore declared that it detests such devious tactics and ploys planned at the interest of an individual or a political party and made it known to the public that it will not allow anyone to exploit the sacrifices of the nine tribal 'martyrs' and the year-long unrelenting struggle of the tribals in present Manipur to further their own political party's interest and personal political gains.
