Speaking at the occasion, the Minister said, Manipur is a leading State in handloom sector across the country.
The fact that the State has been celebrating Handloom Day for 15 years whereas National Handloom Day has been celebrated only for three years testifies Manipur's key position in the handloom sector.
Handloom is an important part of the State.
It provides jobs to hundreds of people.
If the State's handloom sector continue to grow in the same pace as now, the State can definitely become the largest handloom producer of the country, the Minister said.
There are now many dedicated entrepreneurs in the State like Manipur Creations who once functioned from Tamil Nadu.
There can be some serious developments in handloom sector if all the entrepreneurs worked with dedication, he added.
