NPP names 12 candidates, issues manifesto

National Peoples' Party (NPP) has announced the names of 12 candidates for the first phase along with releasing the election manifesto today.
The names were announced at a press meet organised at Hotel Classic Grande which also saw the participation of NPP's National general secretary North East in charge Conrad K Sangma.
Warmly welcoming the selected candidates, Conrad K Sangma said that the name of the candidates for the second phase would also be announced soon.
Speaking at the event, he also expressed belief that all the NPP candidates would win in the coming election.
He said that even though NPP has links with the NDA Government at the Centre, the party will not depend on any other political parties when it comes to the election in the State.
NPP Election Manifesto Drafting Committee member Ch Ajang Khongsai explained the various works and development the party would strive for if it forms the Government.
He said, "The party will try to bring emotional integrity, secularism and communal harmony in the State.
NPP will also give high importance to the health sector and even provide advanced hospitals having the latest medical infrastructure and facilities for every 10,000 people.
"We will also provide special care, treatment and support to people living with HIV," he added.
Ajang pointed out that the party would try to develop the educational landscape of the State and implement the Right to Education initiative adding that they would also work towards improving the conditions of the minority groups.
The party will try to bring changes in sports and culture, gender equality, land use policy, transport and communication, economic sector, social welfare schemes and work against corruption, he added.
The names of the candidates announced today are L Jayentakumar for Keishamthong kendra, Y Joykumar for Uripok kendra, G Satyabati for Sagolband kendra, Kh Loken for Wangoi kendra, Ch Bijoy alias Thoiba for Patsoi kendra, Haji Asraf Ali for Khangabok kendra, Md Habibur Rahman for Wabagai kendra, Manirudin Sheikh for Lilong kendra, Letpao Haokip for Chandel kendra, David Maring for Tengnoupal kendra, Ch Ajang Khongsai for Saikul kendra and L Lala for Khundrakpam kendra.
