CM assures adequate manpower for DIPR

Chief Minister Okram Ibobi has said that adequate manpower and infrastructure will be provided to all the district offices of Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR).
He was speaking at the 65th Information and Public Relations Day, organised by DIPR at MSRTC complex, Moirangkhom, as chief guest.
The Chief Minister said that the State Government is giving priority to upgrading the Department.
Saying that DIPR is an important Department, Okram Ibobi said that necessary manpower and infrastructure would be provided to all the district offices of the Department to facilitate smooth functioning of these offices.
Earlier known as Publicity Department, DIPR came into being on November 1, 1949 with the appointment of a Publicity Officer.
Since then, the Department has been celebrating November 1 as Information and Public Relations Day.

Okram Ibobi said that media highlights the mistakes of three pillars of democracy - Legislature, Judiciary and Executive - to the public.
With the implementation of the Manipur Working Journalists Pension Rules 1996, the State Government is currently providing pension to seven veteran journalists, the Chief Minister said.
He added that the said pension has been hiked from Rs 2000 to Rs 4000 from October this year.
On the other hand, the Family Pension, provided to the families of five late journalists, has also been increased from Rs 1000 to Rs 2000, he added.
The Chief Minister further said that the office building of DIPR being constructed at Keishampat would be completed by March 2015 .
Speaking at the occasion as functional president, DIPR Principal Secretary Letkhogin Haokip said that DIPR is a Department which would facilitate in bringing unity and harmony between hill and valley people.
IPR Parliamentary Secretary K Meghachandra graced the function as guest of honour.
Nine retired employees and three efficient staff of DIPR were feted at the function.
