Information Day celebrated in Tamenglong, Chandel, Bishnupur

Tamenglong, November 01 2014 : Joining the statewide celebration of Information Day today, Information and Public Relations offices at Chandel, Bishnupur and Tamenglong organized functions to commemorate the day on which the first Publicity Officer of the Government of Manipur was appointed.

Encroachment of land inside the campus of Information Office at Tamenglong was put forward as an issue on the occasion of celebrating Information Day in the district today.

The District Information Office, Tamenglong is facing hardships as its land has been disturbed by encroachers, said Kh.

Ranjit Singh, Reporter DIO, Tamenglong who is also in charge of District Information Officer Tamenglong on the sidelines of information day celebration.

The Information Day programme at Tamenglong was graced by Kamiuthuan Kamei, Project Officer, DRDA Tamenglong as chief guest and D.Champoudai Dangmei, Deputy Inspector of Schools, ZEO, Tamenglong as president.

Narrating the pathetic office condition of District Information Office Tamenglong, Ranjit said sometimes the staff have to climb over the iron fencing to attend their duty in the office as land encroachers put fencing around the office.

Again the encroachers also park vehicles throughout the year at the entrance of the office, which is very difficult for the staff to attend the office or to the visitors who want to visit the office.

The official also said that the land encroachers have also been identified.

"Due to the land encroachers, we celebrate the Information Day at private a house at Zeliangrong Evengilistic Fellowship Gospel Centre, Tamenglong", said Ranjit Singh.

He disclosed that the District Information Office Tamenglong may vanish in the near future.

In Chandel, the Day was celebrated with Limkham Khumlo, Assistant Commissioner and DIO Chandel Ch.

Ningthemjao as chief guest and president respectively.

Dwelling on the works done by the Information office in the district, the chief guest said that the celebration of Information Day will help enhance the services rendered by the office to the people.

He cited that the Information office is producing special publications on January 26 and August 15 to highlight the achievements of the state government.

In Bishnupur, the Information office of the district organized a function with L.Lolindro, Chairperson of Bishnupur Municipal Council and A.Kameshwar, District SW Officer as chief guest and president respectively.

The chief guest, L.Lolindro in his speech said that the Information day is celebrated to remember and honour the services of DIPR in disseminating information to the public.

On the occasion, a journalists' body called 'Bishnupur District Journalists' Union' was floated.

ISTV Correspondent M.Jagat, IFP Correspondent Dr..HRomen, Poknapham Correspondent LC Gopen were selected as president, secretary and Treasurer of the Union respectively.
