Jiribam, June 11 2019:
Various CSOs of Jiribam have come out strongly against the threats and abusive words used by a group of people when they were stopped by a staff collector of All Jiribam Road Transport Drivers Union (AJRTDU) who even claimed that the place where the branch office of AJRTDU stands (Gularthol), is within Tamenglong district.
Speaking to media persons at the conference hall of Jiri Ima Meira Paibi Apunba Lup (JIMPAL) at Babupara (Jiribam) today, Jiri Development Organisation (JDO) vice president N Sadananda narrated that yesterday, at around 3.10 pm, some 4/5 vehicles were stopped by a staff collector of AJRTDU as he thought that the vehicles consisted of passenger vehicles.
However it was found that the vehicles were not passenger vehicles and after stopping, they began hurling abusive words and threats at the staff and even made preposterous claims that the area where the AJRTDU branch office stands (which is Gularthol) is under Tamenglong district and knocked over the sign board of the association.
Sadananda continued that the said people even claimed themselves to have come for demarcation of Tamenglong area and added that the said people seemed oblivious to layout of the land and were rather offensive.
On the other hand, president of AMSU D/C Y Sanjiv said that the CSOs of Jiribam district are deeply concerned with the claims made by the people belonging to a certain community yesterday that Leingangpokpi area is within Tamenglong district and houses present in the area should be dismantled immediately.
Strongly condemning the incident, he appealed to all the people of the hills and the valley to maintain peace and unity.
He further demanded the authorities concerned to apprehend the miscreants before June 13 and to punish them according to the law.
