Imphal, June 11 2019:
A large number of expired edible/eatable items have been seized by volunteers of Kangleipak Students' Association (KSA) as they were being fiddled and re-labelled with an intention to supply them to markets.
KSA volunteers raided a godown located at MG Avenue, Thangal Keithel this afternoon and they seized a large number of expired edible and eatable items.
KSA volunteers found packets or sachets of glycerine, roasted vermicelli, macaroni, turmeric powder, chilli powder, mustard oil and papad of Kaa Paa brand inside the godown.
They also found plastic sachets whose contents have been emptied out, pieces of paper, plastic labels, self-sticking labels and a machine for laminating plastic pouch or sachet.

Some of the labels were embossed with the year 2017 and they were about to be incinerated in an oven.
It was suspected that the expired goods were manipulated in the first and second floors of the same building and re-labelled for marketing.
Even though Kaa Paa products are manufactured in different parts of the country, their marketing is solely done by Golden Globe Enterprises, based at Alwar, Rajasthan.
KSA secretary general Seram Hemjit said that Kaa Paa products have been banned in the State with immediate effect.
He also accused non-local traders of adulterating food products.
He then asked all those involved in importing and supplying Kaa Paa products to come to the office of KSA for a thorough discussion on the matter.
Hemjit further urged the concerned authorities to book all the frauds who have been adulterating and fiddling expired food products.
He added that the food products seized by KSA volunteers would be handed over to police.
