Ccpur, Thoubal District Hospitals awarded

Churachandpur District Hospital has been awarded the Kayakalp Award for Best District Hospital at the Kayakalp Award distribution ceremony held at JNIMS lecture hall today.
Thoubal District Hospital received the Certificate of Commendation at the ceremony.
Health Minister Phungzathang Tonsing handed over the Kayakalp Award for Best District Hospital and a cheque of Rs 50 lakh to the Superintendent of Churachandpur District Hospital and the Certificate of Commendation plus a cheque of Rs 3 lakh to Thoubal District Hospital Superintendent at the ceremony today.
Speaking at the occasion Health Minister P Phungzathang Tonsing said Kayakalp Award is an initiative launched under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, to promote cleanliness and enhance the quality of public health facilities.
Churachandpur and Thoubal District Hospital have been selected for the award for successfully maintaining cleanliness, hygiene and Infection Control Practices in the hospital.

Government hospitals are entirely for the public, the Minister stated.
The health sector would have been much evolved had initiatives like Kayakalp been introduced and implemented much earlier.
The Minister conveyed his desire to launch similar initiative for private hospitals and all existing Departments to improve cleanliness and hygiene.
He further urged all the hospitals staff to treat foreign patients with care as it would shape and develop the health sector of the State.
The State is planning to upgrade Government hospitals at hill areas into 50 bedded hospitals.
This year, the State Government hopes to bring maximum development in the health sector, the Minister stated.
A sum of Rs 3 crore has been earmarked for the purpose, he said.
Dr O Ibomcha Singh, Director, State Health Mission and Health Services, Manipur, encouraged district hospitals to ready themselves for the next year's award.
Health and Family Welfare Commissioner PK Singh, Family Welfare Services Director Dr K Rajo Singh, JNIMS Director Dr L Deben Singh and AYUSH Additional Director Dr L Ashok Sharma were also present at the ceremony.
