Imphal, February 11 2016:
Governing body, teaching and non-teaching staff and students
of South East Manipur College, Komlathabi have urged the
State Government to upgrade the college to full-fledged Gov-
ernment college, reports our correspondent.
Chairman of the college governing body R Jindasing
said that the college was established in 1981 through mon-
etary aid extended by the people of the district.
The college was permanently affiliated to Manipur Uni-
versity in 1983.
It became a Government aided college in 2011.Grant-in-
aid received from the State Government is Rs 2.90 lakh per
month which is not sufficient to meet disbursements of
salaries for the teachers.
R Jindasing further said basic educational requirements
could not be met due to lack of proper fund and
infrastructural development in the college.
The State Government should consider all these factors
and upgrade the college to full-fledged Government college.
