Bengaluru, February 11 2016:
For the first time the Tangkhul Naga
community living in Bengaluru will celebrate Luira festival on Feb-
ruary 15 this year, a statement informed.
"Luira phanit" or "seed sowing festival" is one of the most
important festivals of Tangkhul Naga Community.
It heralds the
onset of sowing season and seek blessings for a plentiful
harvest.
The significance and main intention of celebrating the
festival in Bengaluru is to provide a glimpse of the rich cultural
heritage and also showcase the tradition and custom of North-
East community in general and Tangkhul Naga community in
particular, it stated.
Justice W A Shishak, retired Chief Justice and currently
serving as Chairman Advisory Board on Homeland National
Security Act will be the chief guest and A Salam, Ex-corporate,
Congress Leader, Richmond Town, Bengaluru will attend as
guest of honour.
Many exciting games and competitions like
pork eating contest, tug of war, archery contest, javelin throw
and Naga wrestling will be part of the event.

Mashangva, the "King of Naga folk blues" and Pakmi Mahong,
stand-up Tangkhul comedian will entertain the crowd .
