Jiribam, February 03 2016:
The Jiribam District Demand Committee (JDDC) has today resolved to resume its suspended blockade along Imphal-Jiribam road if the State Government fails to take a concrete decision by February 9 .
In a statement, JDDC said that the committee and people of Jiribam have been demanding the State Government to declare Jiribam as a full-fledged revenue district through various forms of agitation.
The State Government's negligence in considering the long-pending demand of Jiribam people is unfortunate.
JDDC had suspended the blockade along Imphal-Jiribam road on December 21 hoping the State Government would initiate positive steps regarding the matter, the statement asserted.
The Government has sidelined the issue for too long.
However, people of Jiribam and JDDC would not give up.
Blockade along Imphal-Jiribam road would resume from February 10 if the State Government fails to provide concrete response by February 9, the statement added.
In the meantime, JDDC has said that the committee has formed an organising committee of the "Integrity mass rally" which is to be held on February 6.The committee appealed to all the people of Jiribam and neighbouring areas to participate in the rally.
