Imphal, February 03 2016:
Despite frequent visits of Union Ministers to Manipur, the BJP-led NDA Government is yet to do anything substantial for the State, said Chief Minister Okram Ibobi.
He was speaking at a function organised to mark the successful completion of 10 years of MGNREGS implementation at Congress Bhavan today.
He said that unlike Jammu and Kashmir, Manipur is yet to receive an economic package from the NDA Government.
MPCC president and Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, Ministers, Parliamentary Secretaries, MPs, MLAs, INC Councillors, MPCC office bearers, members and PCC members were present at the function.

The Chief Minister said that although many Union Ministers have visited the State in the past two years, the Centre has not done anything substantial for the State.
On the other hand, the Centre has taken many Manipur related decisions without consulting the State Government, he said.
The Chief Minister said that the NDA Government informs/consults the State Government only when a controversy arises from its decisions.
He said that Narendra Modi had once promised to revamp NH-37 within 100 days after he swore in as the Prime Minister.
Unlike BJP, Congress would never assure people if they would not be able to execute any project, Ibobi said.
He also asked the BJP not to make false promises if they are not willing or incapable to accomplish the said promise.
Although, Manipur is a tiny State, it is leading in health sector, agriculture and implementation of RTE and National Food Security Act, he said.
The Chief Minister contended that the Congress Government has successfully taken up many development works and welfare activities under MGNREGS.
He said that Congress has been constantly putting in efforts to eradicate poverty, increase employment and income.
The Chief Minister said that the NDA Government had removed 30 per cent subsidy provided to North East States under an industrial development policy.
It clearly shows that the NDA Government never wants development in the region, the Chief Minister said.
In his speech, Gaikhangam said that maximum number of suicide cases of farmers was reported during NDA's tenure from 1999 to 2003 .
Saying that many people oriented and welfare schemes were taken up by the UPA Government, Gaikhangam said that people across the country are still getting benefits under these schemes.
Unemployed and poor people are getting 100 days' works in their villages under MGNREGS, he said.
However, ever since BJP came to power, these 100 days have been reduced to 25 days.
As such, it clearly indicates that BJP is not a party which aspires for upliftment of poor people.
Maintaining that people know everything about the policies of BJP, Gaikhangam said that the special category status has been removed from the NE States after the party came to power.
The country would lead to a complete mayhem as it is evident that BJP has taken up many anti-people policies in the past two years of their rule, he said.
He said that the party omitted the words, 'socialist and secularism' mentioned in the preamble of the Constitution while printing an advertisement of Republic Day 2015 .
