Imphal, May 30 2015 :
Imphal-Dimapur road, which is one of the major life-line of the state would be crippled by an indefinite economic blockade with effect from midnight of June 1 if the State Government fails to resolve the dispute over incursion in Dzuko Valley by Nagaland Government by May 31 midnight.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today, Committee for Khoziiri-Dzukou Land Boundary Resolution spokesperson and ICHAM president N Rajendro said that the decision to call the indefinite economic blockade has been adopted in protest against the alleged non-responsive attitude of Manipur Government.
He further said that a report regarding the alleged 'land encroachment' by Naga-land was already submitted to the SDO of Mao and Senapati DC.
Also, the Committee demanded deployment of State security forces in the Dzukou Valley and to protect and stop the road construction and encroachment activity being carried out by Nagaland authorities inside Manipur boundary.
Even after this, the State Government has not been taking up any significant action.
Rajendro added that the Manipur Government is only making big claims and giving false assurances that it would not tolerate losing an inch of land of the State.
However, its actions do not correspond with its promises, added Rajendro.
Even as the issue remains unresolved, some persons have been preventing free movement of people specially from Mao area at Khuzuma near Nagaland police check post.
All the people from Mao were sorted out and asked to turn back, he said.
He informed that the said unknown persons conducted thorough search of the baggages of those people from Manipur who fail to provide identity cards.
The proposed indefinite blockade is not against any communities inhabiting but is aimed at exerting pressure on the authority so that the inter-State boundary is demarcated properly at the earliest.
The issue has been highlighted to State Government since first week of October 2014 after the Mao Council reported to Senapati District Commissioner and a first hand report was submitted by the Tadubi SDO to the Chief Secretary of Manipur, Rajendra informed.
The Mao Council and other CSOs have repeatedly reminded the State Government and a fresh memorandum has also been submitted to the Chief Minister but to no avail so far, he added.
