Imphal, May 30 2015 :
After the disqualification of three Trina-mool Congress MLAs by the Speaker of Manipur of Legislative Assembly, a court hearing was held today for the five MSCP MLAs in a similar case.
The five MSCP MLAs against whom the court hearing was held are Nemcha Kipgen of Kangpokpi AC, RK Imo of Sagolband AC, K Thamarjit of Keirao AC, P Brojen of Wangjing Tentha AC and Janghemlung Panmei of Tamenglong AC.
The hearing took place in the Tribunal Court of the Manipur Speaker.
It may be mentioned that the respondents had submitted an application on May 29 for bringing subsequent necessary records supported by documents.
Today, counsels of both the respondents and petitioner sought some more time to present their documents.
The Speaker acceded to the appeals and ordered the respondents to submit the docu- ments, if any, on June 11 and the petitioner to give its reply/rejoinder on June 15 .
The final hearing of the case will be out on June 16 .
It may be mentioned that the then MSCP vice-president Adim Panmei had filed the charge against the five MSCP MLAs as they claimed being merged with the Congress party.
He filed the case at the Tribunal Court of the Speaker of the Manipur Legislative Assembly on charge of violating the Tenth Schedule (or Anti-Defection Law) .
Afterwards, Hiyanglam by-election was held in between and Adin Panmei released his party's candidate in the poll as the ECI acknowledged that MSCP is a political party.
On the other hand, the pending case hearing of Trinamool MLA from Konthoujam, K Sharat will be held on June 6.It may be mentioned that the delay in his case is due to the changing of his counsel, thereby taking more time in submissions and replies.
