Imphal, May 30 2015 :
BJP Manipur Pradesh wound up its election campaign with full throttle tirades against ruling Congress party at Sadar Hills today.
BJP National executive member Tapir Gao, BJP Manipur Pradesh president Th Chaoba, former president M Bhorot, general secretaries L Basanta and M Ashnikumar, KB Tamang and other leaders addressed a series of election rallies at different places of Sadar Hills in their last efforts to win maximum voters on their side.
Speaking at one such rally held at Parashine-Santalabari within 7-Keithelmanbi DCC which is predominantly inhabited by Gorkha people, Tapir Gao remarked that referring to Gorkha people as Nepali is a misnomer.
If Gorkha people are living in Hindustan, they should build a separate identity of their own.
Acknowledging the valour and honesty of Gorkha people, Gorkha Regiment is still given the privilege of guarding Buckingham Palace in London even though the British rulers left India 68 years back.
Claiming that he is associated with the advocates of Gorkhaland who are based at Darjeeling, Tapir Gao asked if the successive Congress Governments of Manipur did anything substantial for Gor-kha people in the last 50 years.
Yet, Congress leaders have been projecting BJP as anti-Christian and anti-minorities.
He went on to ask whether the incumbent Congress Government led by O Ibobi has recognised Gorkha people as either SC, ST, OBC or any minority group.
The road leading to the village from the National Highway is enough testimony of how far the Congress Government is committed to development of the State.
All IVRs are anything but roads and educational institutions are pathetic to say the least, remarked Tapir Gao adding that he did not think the situation would be any better in other parts of the State.
Although BJP has no MLA in Manipur, the party assume it its duty to topple the Congress Government in the larger interest of the people of Manipur.
He then appealed to the gathering to vote for BJP candidate Ngamlen Kipgen to pave way for a BJP Government in the State.
In the next State Assembly election, even Congress MLAs would be knocking at BJP's door for party tickets, Tapir Gao asserted.
He also talked about three social security schemes which were launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently.
Th Chaoba lamented that Gorkha people have not been recognised by the State Government as a minority even though they have been living here since the past 120 years.
At some point of time, some areas inhabited by Gorkha people were left out of ADCs nor were they included under Panchayats.
During this period, around Rs 53 crore sanctioned by the Government of India under MGNREGS for Gorkha people were swindled by the Ibobi Government.
Late Mairembam Koireng, Rishang Keishing and O Ibobi are the only three people who held the post of Chief Minister three times.
Out of them, Ibobi is the most corrupted Chief Minister.
There are some people who suffer convulsion on hearing the name of Loktak Lake, Chaoba said.
