A one-day scientific session on recent advancements in stem cell treatment was held today at Hotel Nirmala.
The session was organised by Continuing Medical Education (CME), Imphal Obstetrics and Gynaecological Society, Manipur and Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, RIMS.
The scientific session was attended by Dr Prosanto Choudhury, Medical Director Cordlife, Professor Ch Manglem Singh, Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, JNIMS and Professor N Nabakishore Singh, Head of Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, RIMS.
Dr Prosanto Choudhury said that stem cells are mother or master cells which can repair or replenish different tissues or organs in our body through transplant or therapy.
He said that stem cell derived from umbilical cord and cord blood which are naive in nature and can be used for treatment of life threatening diseases.
He also said different types of cancer can be treated with stem cell.
