Imphal, April 29 2020:
Extending the hand of co-operation under the message of helping each other in times of need, the All Manipur United Club Organisation gifted rice to the people of nine villages which come under Phungyar Assembly Constituency in Kamjong district on April 28 .
The rice bags were handed over to the villagers through the respective village headmen.
The villages covered by AMUCO included Lungphu, Shingtha, Marou, Singkap, T Hundung Khullen, T Hundung Khunou, Itham Tangkhul, Paohuram and Chingshao.
Likewise, the villagers gifted vegetables and products of the villages to be distributed to the people of the valley through AMUCO.

The vegetables were distributed to the people at the office of AMUCO with the chairman of Zingsho Mapithel Long AS Paothing and chief of Itham Tangkhul village Wungreingam Ningshen in attendance, said AMUCO in a statement.
Drawing the attention of the State Government, AMUCO said that it will go a long way in fostering unity and oneness if the inter-village roads are developed and made more motorable.
It will also help if means are worked out to help them develop their economy.
Such measures will certainly go a long way in developing the feeling of oneness amongst the people, said AMUCO and added that many village chiefs had also expressed their desire for the State Government to step in and help the people.
Quoting the chief of Sinkap village, AMUCO said that the people suffer a lot as there are no passenger vehicles connecting the village with other parts of the State.
The problems of the people can be addressed to a good extent if passenger vehicles connect the said village, said the chief.
Though Sinkap Government High School is the oldest high school in Phungyar Assembly Constituency, the school is in a pitiable state, AMUCO said quoting villagers of Sinkap.
At one point of time there were about 400 students at the school but due to lack of adequate number of teachers, many students have left the school.
No replacements were sent for teachers who were transferred out of the school, they said.
Now with the efforts of the villagers some students have enrolled and the school has about 100 students now but only seven teachers.
The Government ought to look into the pitiable condition of the school, they said.
The chief of Itham Tangkhul village said that though a transformer was installed for the village back in 2006, the village still has no power supply as no HT wire has been extended to the village.
The chief said that this case has been highlighted to the respective Power Minister many times but despite the numerous assurances nothing has been done to electrify the village.
Though there may be no more fresh cases of COVID-19 in the State, if care is not taken along the Indo-Myanmar border, the threat persists, said the chief and appealed to the Government to take up the vigil along the border more stridently.
