JAC hails CJM ruling on Babysana case

JAC against the murder of N Babysana Chanu has welcomed the ruling of Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal West that reject the final report of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) of the investigation into the death of the student of Standard Robert Higher Secondary School.
Speaking to the media at Thangmeiband Meisnam Leikai today, JAC convenor Laishram Gyaneshori said that the final report was submitted to the Court on March 3, 2021.Saying that the Court had on November 16 last ruled the report was not satisfactory and directed the investigative agency for reinvestigation, Gyaneshori said that the CJM has also directed the CBI to confirm the blood group of the deceased and also complete the DNA profiling.
The Court further directed the CBI to collect the blood samples of Babysana's parents to point out the possible blood group of the deceased, she said and added that the same Court also directed the agency to collect the blood groups of all accused and complete their DNA profiling.
Welcoming the ruling, Gyaneshori urged the CBI to appoint honest officers for re-investigation.
She also urged the CBI to use technical devices while taking statements of the accused and the witnesses.
Claiming that the FIR of the SIT established by Singjamei police station reflected JJ Act 2000 and also mentioned that the residential complex/boarding of the Standard Robarth Higher Secondary School is not registered, she rued that the same were not incorporated in the final report of the CBI.
She further urged the CBI to re-investigate the case minutely to avert such incidents in future and to deliver to the deceased.
It may be mentioned that N Babysana, d/o N Tomchou of Thangmeiband Meisnam Leikai was found hanging at the boarding of Standard Robarth Higher Secondary School in a suspicious manner on July 18, 2019 .
