Legal awareness programme held

Under the sponsorship of Manipur State Legal Service Authority, The Environment and Economics Management Association organised a one-day legal awareness programme at Haobam Marak Chingtham Leikai today.
Addressing the gathering as the chief guest Judge Special Court Manipur Roland Keishing said that aim of the event was to make the common people aware on their rights and to convey that services of Manipur State Legal Service Authority should be extended to the public to seek justice through the judicial system.
Noting that implementation of central sponsored schemes in the State especially NREGS works is being overshadowed by numerous complaints of denial or delay in paying wages, Roland said such mal-practices could be pursued with the assistance of legal practitioners of the Manipur State Legal Service Authority.
Similarly irregularities in the public distribution system could be legally tackled, he informed.
Churachandpur Chief Judicial Magistrate L Shantibala Devi spoke on issues relating to crime against women and the legal system to seek justice.
Among others, Judicial Magistrate 1st Class of Imphal West Y Rolther Singh was also present at the occasion.
