Imphal, February 26 2012:
Naga intellectuals and public leaders carried out a brain storming session on the topic "A dialogue on the concept of shared sovereignty in Indo-Naga context" on February 25 and 26 at Ukhrul district headquarters.
The programme was organised by Naga Solidarity Group (NSG).
Few intellectuals from Nagaland also participated in the two-day event.
The programme had four sessions and in all of them the term 'shared sovereignty' debated, dwelt at, discussed and interacted by the participants.
One of the scholars from Nagaland said that the concept of shared sovereignty was first suggested to the Nagas by not other than Mahatma Gandhi and quoted Mahatma Gandhi as saying, "Give Nagaland to India and I will give India to Nagaland" .
The scholar, however, added that Mahatma Gandhi though, did not use the term 'shared sovereignty' at that time.
A.Z Phizo supported this stand of Mahatma Gandhi, according to the scholar from Nagaland.
At the end of the two-day long brain storming session, the participants demonstrated their support to the ongoing Indo-Naga peace talks and urged the both the parties to expedite the peace talks.
