Imphal, October 24 2012:
CAF & PD Minister M Okendro has sent a missive to Union Petroleum Minister Jaipal Reddy and Chairman of IOC, RS Butola today highlighting the infeasibility of blocking the connection of LPG consumers falling under Same Name, Same Address, different names same address and incomplete address.
The proposed step has caused an unprecedented alarm in Manipur both at the LPG distributors level as well as at the consumers level since the matter was sought to be implemented all of a sudden, the Minister highlighted in the missives that were made available to the press.
"The problem is primarily due to the fact that the towns and villages are comparatively small in Manipur and there is no system of house numbering nor specification of the house-units in the localities of the towns and villages of Manipur," Oken wrote.
Against this backdrop, the Minister further pointed out that the occurrence of same address will be tremendously high and this action will exclude most families of the State from the ambit of eligible LPG consumers which can have severe adverse and serious fall-out.
He pointed out that the fall-out would be immediately and adversely felt by the Government if immediate action is not taken to channelise the measures in a more practicable manner.
