Imphal, October 24 2012:
Renowned Manipuri singer L Jayenta popularly known as 'Tapta', who has been highlighting the unwanted happenings in this trouble torn state through his songs longs to see the public response to his songs translating into action instead of mere cheering and adulation.
Tapta has been living out his love for music through fusion music by highlighting the daily happenings of the state in his songs for the last 16 years.
In a tete-a-tete with Hueiyen Lanpao, Tapta stated that though he manages to highlight the daily happenings of the state through his songs, yet he is apprehensive of whether the public really understands the inner meaning of his songs.
"Everyone proposes his/her best number (normally patriotic songs) to me in almost every musical concert.
And I, on my part, fulfill their wishes by singing the songs chosen by them.
It seems the audiences love their motherland truly.
However, they seldom come up with any initiative or action for the welfare of their motherland", Tapta expressed with regret.
Grown up as a lover of art and music, Tapta started his career in drama.
Later he turned to music.
However, he had to drop his love for music and concentrate himself on something else which could earn him more money as his father was against his taking up music as a profession as he (the father) believed that it could not ensure him a decent living.

Nevertheless, as was destined, Tapta came up with his debut music album entitled "The Power of Attraction" which made him the "centre of attraction" for quite a long time.
Later on, his fame in the music world grew wilder and he produced a number of love songs.
Having done enough romancing, Tapta finally turns his attention to singing patriotic songs through which he portrays vividly the daily unwanted happenings in the trouble torn state of Manipur.
So far, he has sung a number of songs based on social issues and patriotic songs that the singer himself has lost count of the number.
On his future project, Tapta disclosed that he is all set to come up with his latest album "Sex and Crime" which will be released on October 27 at BOAT.
The album will include his various numbers like 'Press Conference', Ijjat Daabi', 'Restaurant Drive' and 'Hangkok' .
"Though my songs are like by security forces of the state, the politicians have no taste as much of my songs reflect the slogans of the people", he said, adding that he would continue to bring out as many patriotic songs as he possibly can.
"I am still preferred by the people", Tapta claimed.
