The Assam Rifles authorities have clarified the report on the recent alleged assault of student by its jawans at State Bank of India (SBI) complex in Ukhrul as incomplete and misleading.
A senior AR official, on condition of anonymity, said the news report should have also incorporated the version of the both the parties regarding the incident.
He also stated that the SBI in Somsai has been visited by hundreds of customers on daily basis and no such incident has been reported earlier.
On October 15 at about 1pm, the AR personnel have been alleged of physically assaulting one Leishang Nakhedei (21), son of N Aring and a resident of Viewland in Ukhrul.
The alleged victim then submitted his compliant to the office of Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS) .
However, it was also reportedly confirmed that the boy had walked past the AR check point without going through security entrance installed at the gate near the SBI office.
The victim, it was informed, was not aware of the mandatory checking.
The TKS condemned the incident committed by AR soldiers and demanded that the SBI be relocated out of the premises.
The AR authorities responded that the demand for SBI relocation is totally not fair merely due to the alleged incident.
