60-yr-old man shot dead at Heingang

Imphal, October 24 2012:
Unidentified gunmen shot dead a 60-year old man near his house at Heingang Panthoibi Leikai under Heingang Police station at around 8 pm on Saturday.
According to reports, the victim identified as Mutum Gulappi (60) s/o Late Yaima of Heingang Panthoi Leikai was found lying in a pool of blood along the road side near his house.
When the local people found him in that condition, at first they though, he might have met with an accident and they immediately evacuated to the hospital where he succumbed to the injuries.
It was only at that time, police came know that he had been shot.
Decrying the killing, a sit-in-protest demonstration cum public meeting was held at Heingang Panthoibi Lampak today.

One of the protestors informed that Gullapi was last seen enjoying a live concert at his locality.
Gullapi was mason and did not have any record of indulging anti social element.
He is survived by his wife, son and two daughters who are already married.
During the course of the sit-in-protest demonstration cum public meeting, a Joint Action Committee was formed with Mutum Ongbi Babita as convenor and Keisham Ongbi Sadhana as co-Convenor.
The meeting demanded the state government to take up all necessary actions for arresting the killers and warned of launching various severe forms of agitations including bandh, and blockade, etc, if the government fails to fulfill the demand.
