The All Manipur Women's Voluntary Association (AMWOVA) has celebrated its 23rd Foundation Day today at Manipur Press Club.
Speaking at the occasion, general secretary of AMWOVA, Ksh Sujata stressed on the need for a collective struggle against crime against women.
Advisor of AMAWOVA, H Manbi Devi also preached for joint efforts of all women's organisation against atrocities committed against women.
In the backdrop of attempts to depict meira paibi movement in the wrong light, it is necessary that all concerned should maintain sincerity, Manbi Devi said.
Recalling the participation of Manipuri women in various movements in the history of Manipur, Dr Priyadarshini M Gangte called upon today's women to join hands to face any eventuality.

Maintaining that there are many educated women who remain confined within the four corners of the house, Dr Priya Gangte emphasised that women's movement would gain faster pace should the educated women come out from their confinement.
Prof Ksh Bimola Devi, while speaking as the chief guest of the function, said that there is no end to the story of the courage of Manipuri women.
The women have struggled against many odds.
Prof Bimola also stressed on the need to maintain coordination between the educated and non-educated classes in order to achieve greater height of success in their endeavour.
The Programme was graced by President of Poirei Leimarol Apunba Meira Paibi Manipur, L Memchoubi and president of AMAWOVA, Y Kunjarani as the guest of honour and president respectively.
