World Health Day observed in state

As done in different parts of the world, the 19th World Health Day was observed in the State under the aegis of Association of Surgeons of India (ASI), Manipur State Chapter at Khwairamband Ima Imoinu Keithel here today.
Speaking on the occasion which was held under the theme "High Blood Pressure", Prof Ksh Kala, President of ASI, Manipur State Chapter, stated that High Blood Pressure is a kind of disease which can kill human beings slowly but surely.
With increase in the age of an individual, the level of blood pressure also increases; and this needs to be controlled at any cost.
If the disease is not diagnosed at an early stage, it could lead to heart failure, kidney failure and damage of the artery and veins in the head.
This type of health problem has become very common in the State due to the prevailing chaotic condition.
In any way, we need to stay alert and prevent such diseases.

He went on to inform that the problem of high blood pressure is also very common among the women specially during pregnancy.
So care should be taken to avoid complication.
Despite the growing risk from high blood pressure, it is unfortunate that so far there has been no proper study on the extent of this health problem along the people in Manipur.
The World Health Day was also observed under the aegis of Indian Medical Association, Manipur State Branch at IMA Hall, Lamphelpat today.
The function was attended by around 70 delegates with Prof Th Bhimo Singh in the chair.
On the occasion, Prof Ng Taruni delivered a talk on the topic, "High Blood Pressure" .
