State's geo-strategic importance noted

At a solemn seminar on economic growth and national unity organised by the Friendship Forum of India (FII), four members of the State Legislative Assembly were awarded with a citation, mementoes and medal by Dr GVG Krishnamurthy, former Election Commissioner of India.
Other distinguished personalities from Nagaland, Assam and other parts in India were also awarded in recognition of their contribution towards economic growth and human development.
The Friendship Forum is a voluntary organization aimed at forging greater unity and integrity among the people of Indian origin living anywhere in India or in any part of the world.
The forum also aims to enhance India's broad relationship and forge greater friendship and cooperation with all the countries on the globe.
Speaking on the occasion , awardee Vungzagin Valte, Parliamentary Secretary, Horticulture GoM , emphasised the geo strategic importance of Manipur as the gateway to South East Asia and that Manipur can play a key role as an economic hub considering India's Look East Policy.
Others awardees include R.K Imo MLA (Sagolband) Kh.
Syam MLA (Langthabal) and Z Kikhonbou MLA (Tamei) .
Emphasizing Manipur's potential for investment , Valte underlined that such investment should be mutually beneficial.
He said Manipur ( and NE) are known for all the wrong reasons , and that insurgency has considerably come down with hill insurgent groups under SoO and surrender of various valley based groups.
He maintained that with a positive outlook, the best means for growth in Manipur and India at large is to explore the potentiality of a state like Manipur.
