Though Manipur Police are very smart and well trained, they lack discipline and integrity, Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, who is also in charge of Home Department, has admitted.
However, Gaikhangam hastened to add that if discipline and integrity could be infused, then Manipur Police could be among the best police teams in the world.
He made the revelation while speaking as Chief Guest of the 4th Foundation Day celebration of the Unit Christian Church Association at Manipur Police Christian Church located at National Game Village Zone I, Langol here today.
Gaikhangam further admitted that in order to bring about a peaceful and prosperous Manipur, the conduct of the State police in dealing with the general public need to be changed.
"If the Manipur Police personnel could be trained in such a way that they begin to acquire discipline and have integrity, then they would not lag behind any other police forces in the country and even beyond", he added.
Gaikhangam observed that the role of police personnel in bringing about a change in the society is of paramount importance.
They should be humble in their approach and be kind-hearted.
He also appealed to all the police personnel following Christianity to give good service to their fellow citizens and to do away with all negative thoughts.
