Imphal, April 07 2013 :
Terming it a ploy to turn black money into white money, CPI-M has lambasted the State Government's reported move to privatize district hospitals including Moreh hospital.
Speaking to media persons at their Paona Bazar office this evening, CPI-M State secretary Sarat Salam decried the State Government's reported move to privatize four district hospitals.
He claimed that such act of privatizing hospitals is not seen anywhere in the world.
Such ad-hoc policies of the Government are initiated in the interest of some rich and influential people so that they can turn their black money into white money.
Privatization of hospitals would cause untold misery to a large section of poor people.
It would be politically more correct if the Government focuses its attention of improving infrastructure in Government hospitals.
By doing so, the Government would receive accolades from the mass.
Even as many mobile ambulances have been allotted to different districts under JNURM, people have not got any benefit from these mobile ambulances, Sarat asserted.
Appealing to all civil organisations and NGOs working in the health sector to prevent the Government' s move of privatizing hospitals, Sarat said that the matter would be put up in the all political parties meeting scheduled for tomorrow.
Alleging that the cases of fake encounters that took place in Manipur were committed with tacit support of the State Government, Sarat decried that many security personnel involved in fake encounters in Punjab and UP have been awarded due punishment but no such action has been seen in Manipur till date.
He went on to assert that such criminal oriented Government should be ousted from the soil of Manipur.
