Education Minister M Okendro has raised a number of issues pertaining to the education sector of Manipur during the 61st convention of the Central Advisory Board of Education held at New Delhi on April 2 with Human Resources Development Minister MM Pallam Raju in the chair.
Pointing out that there are many schools in Manipur which are as old as 40 years and which walls are made of split bamboo, Okendro urged the Government of India to construct these schools anew.
He further sought attention of the Union Human Resources Development Minister to give dedicated power supply lines to all schools.
For schools located in interior areas where conventional electricity is not accessible, solar lighting systems should be installed, Okendro demanded.
