Block Health Mela held in Kangpokpi district

Kangpokpi, April 21 2022: As part of the ongoing celebration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and CM Biren-led BJP government's "100 days action plan, block health melas were organised at various places of Kangpokpi district.

The block level health mela held at Maphou Kuki village under Island block in Sadar Hills East was attended by MLA Kimneo Haokip Hangshing as chief guest and Kangpokpi district immunization officer Dr J Touthang as functional president while SDO Island & Lhungtin Block Syed Amzad Ali Khan and chief of Maphou Kuki village Lhunkholal Lupho attended as guest of honours.

MO in-charge of PHC Maphou Dr K Bipin and leaders of various civil bodies land village chiefs also attended the event.

The local MLA handed over health cards to the beneficiaries while many others were enrolled for the health scheme on the occasion.

Various health-related programmes were also held during the event.

MLA Kimneo also inspected various health centres in the area and took stock of their condition while assuring medical staff of PHC Maphou to look into their requirements.

A similar event was also held at Twisomyang village under Lhungtin Block where former vice-chairman of ADC Sadar Hills Thangjakam Misao attended on behalf of MLA Kimneo as chief guest while SDO Syed Amzad Ali Khan and Bungpi Area Chiefs' Association secretary Paolam Haokip were present as functional president and guest of honour respectively.

While appreciating the efforts of the government and the health department in delivering health care services to people in the remotest area, Thangjakam Misao conveyed the commitment of the local MLA towards improving healthcare services in Saikul AC.

MO in-charge of CHC Saikul Dr John Lupheng highlighted the initiatives of the government to reach out to the citizens by delivering essential healthcare services even to the remotest areas and the various services to be provided during the health mela.

Paolam Haokip appreciated the efforts of CHC Saikul, ICDS team and line departments in ensuring healthcare services in Bungpi areas which is still devoid of PHC/CHC services while assuring the government departments particularly the health department of support from CSOs of Bungpi Area in the implementation of any health activities.

IEC team of CHC Saikul displayed IEC materials (video clip) in local dialect on common diseases as part of heath education to the citizens.

Meanwhile, a block level health mela was organised at PHC Gamphazol under Saitu Gamphazol block where SDO/BDO Saitu Gamphazol Sapam Bishwojit attended as chief guest while DIO Kangpokpi Dr J Touthang and ZEO Kangpokpi Lhingneikim Kipgen were present as functional president and guest of honour respectively.

Leaders of various civil society organisations and village chiefs also attended the event.
