The titular king was attending as chief guest of the 5th foundation day of Thang-Ta Loishang, Sana Konung held at the Royal Palace, here on Thursday.
Speaking at the event, Leishemba recounted how Thang-Ta played a crucial role in safeguarding the sovereignty of the erstwhile kingdom of Manipur for thousands of years.
Since ages, there had been an inseparable bond between Sana Konung (royal palace) and Thang-Ta but there was a gap between the two for several years.
However the Thang-Ta Loishang has been re-established in Sana Konung recently.

Thang-Ta can act as catalyst to salvage the youth from drug and alcohol menace and lead them towards a healthy lifestyle and better future.
It can also instil sense of patriotism among the youth, which is needed in order to bring development in the society, he said.
The MP further said that during the recently concluded parliament session, he brought lip the demand of upgrading Manipur University of Culture into a central university as it can be a promising way to promote the different art forms of Manipur including Thang-Ta.
The government also needs to frame a proper policy to encourage the younger generation to learn Thang-Ta including giving special preference to Thang-Ta players in government job.
He will work towards achieving these targets at his best level, he assured.
Leishemba also urged the Thang-Ta Loishang to explore offering of three-month foundation course on Thang-Ta for youth.
Thang-Ta Loishang, Sana Konung president Th Ibohanbi presided over the function while Th Ibungohal attended as guest of honour.
