Bodies hail removal of rods from Kanglasha

Imphal, June 19 2021:
Lauding the government for removing the two rods from the mouth of the two Kanglasha (mythical creature) statues installed inside Kangla, Lamlai Mapari Thougal Lup has stated that such initiative of the government which has been taken up in consideration of the sentiments and wishes of the people will remain as historic.
In a release, Lup secretary Laishram Bobysana stated that Kanglasha is a mythological creature closely linked with the civilization of the Meeteis.
He applauded Manipur Chief Minister N Biren and Rajya Sabha MP Leishemba Sanajaoba for such welcoming step of taking out the two rods (kaba khanba) which have been there for years from the mouth of the two Kanglashas.
He expressed hope that the chief minister and the MP will take up more such initiatives for the welfare of the people.
In another release, All India Kangla Pakhangba Temple Development Society lauded the government for removing the rods from Kanglasha statues.
The society also urged the government to consult experts concerned to review whether positioning of the sword and shield in the 30-feet tall gate at Khongjom War memorial is appropriate and mooted that tip of the sword should be pointing upward.
