Sambit Patra arrives to shortlist presidential candidates

Imphal, June 19 2021:
BJP national spokesperson and Manipur in-charge Sambit Patra arrived here on Saturday to prepare a final report on the appointment of the new state president of the party.
Soon after arrival, Sambit Patra held a meeting at the party's Nityaipat Chuthek office with functionaries of BJP Manipur Pradesh, cells, morcha presidents, etc.
Sambit reviewed the functioning of the party, roles in fighting Covid-19 and issues faced by the party organisation.
A condolence was also held in honour of former BJP state president S Tikendra, who died of Covid-19, recently.
Later, Sambit Patra held another round of meeting with district presidents of the party so as to understand party's strength at the ground level.
According to a party source, he also met chief minister Biren later in the evening but conceded that details of interaction between the two could not ascertained.
He will visit the residences of late S Tikendra and late S Seityabhama on Sunday to share the grief and pain of the bereaved families.
The BJP spokesperson will collect reports from different levels of the party's leaderships and members during his stay in the state and prepare a final report for the appointment of the next state president of the party.
He attend the party's executive meeting on Monday, which will be inaugurated by BJP president JP Nadda virtually before leaving for the national capital on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, sources said that key leaders of the party including chief minister N Biren are reportedly in favour of a couple of senior leaders of the party, who have worked and dedicated for the party's cause for several years for the top post.
