Islam believers exhorted to follow SOP during Eid

WAQF Board chairman ex-MLA Abdul Nasir has appealed to Meetei Pangal community in the state to strictly follow the Covid relevant SOPs laid down by the government while celebrating Eid festival.
On Wednesday, Abdul Nasir had a joint meeting with Islamic scholars at his official residence regarding Eid festival.
In his message to the public after the meeting, Nasir said cautioned that the state is facing the second wave of Covid-19 and the pandemic is taking its toll on the lives and livelihood of the people.
While urging all to follow SOPs in celebrating the festival, he also prayed that the festival brings peace and strengthens the fraternal bond among people of different communities.
Moulana Khurshid, a teacher at Darul Ulum Madrassa, said that followers of Islamic religion should never take the pandemic lightly and must follow relevant SOPs.
About a millennium ago, a similar pandemic hit the world during the time of Prophet Mohammad and the prophet denied company of a delegation and touching their hands.
History shows the importance of social distancing during pandemic and celebrating the festival by violating relevant SOPs would mean affront to Islamic religion, he said, while adding that a Muslim should never cause trouble to another human being.
General secretary of the apex body of Madrassas of Manipur, Mufti Salatur Ra-haman said that only some key people may visit Masjid to offer Namaj while the general public can offer Namaj in their homes under the supervision of an Imam.
Many individuals including public figures and organisations have also extended Id-ul-Fitr greetings to the public of Manipur, especially the Muslim community.
In his message, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution minister Th Sa-tyabrata Singh said: "I greet every citizen in Manipur, especially the Muslim community, a joyous Id-Mubarak.
May Allah open the doors of happiness and prosperity for all".
The minister also urged the public to get vaccinated against Covid-19, follow SOPs and take precautions to fight the spread of the deadly virus.
All Manipur Muslim Development Organisation (AM-MDO) also extended Eid-ul-Fitre greetings to the public of Manipur, particularly to the Muslim (Meitei Pangal) community and also urged everyone to strictly follow all guidelines and SOP of Covid-19 while celebrating the festival.
AMMDO also wished that the festival brings peace and harmony between different communities residing in Manipur.
Similarly, Pangal Students' Organisation (PSO) Manipur extended greetings to the public and the Muslim community in particular on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, wishing that the festival heralds peace, prosperity and communal harmony in the state.
PSO also urged the public to strictly adhere to Covid-19 guidelines and SOPs during the festival.
