Imphal, March 18 2011:
The State Government is yet to ascertain the exact circumstances leading to the death of Md Feroze Khan of Khomidok Ipum Mapal, his wife and two children in an inferno at Dimapur on March 7 .
This was stated by Chief Minister O Ibobi in response to a call attention motion raised by MLAs Ng Bijoy and O Joy in connection with the death of four persons of a family from Manipur at Dimapur.
Ibobi said that Feroze Khan was running an electronics store at Dimapur and he was staying there together with his wife and children since around 20 years back.
All four of them were charred to death when their shop was engulfed in an inferno in the night of March 7 .
In connection with the incident, Nagaland Police have been asked to send a detailed report, the Chief Minister stated.
It is still unclear whether the family were killed by torching their house after locking it from outside or what led to the devastating fire.
The Nagaland Government has also been intimated to book the culprits if the inferno was engineered by some extremists, Ibobi stated.
Earlier, raising the call attention motion, Bijoy and Joy said that the incident did not look like an accident.
They further expressed suspicion that Feroze Khan and his family may have been killed in a deliberate act of arson, after the house was locked from outside.
While Feroze Khan was found dead near the door, his wife and children were found dead on the bed.
Observing that neither post mortem nor any enquiry was conducted into the incident before the corpses were hastily dispatched to Manipur, the two MLAs urged the State Government to ask Nagaland Government for investigation into the incident.
