Imphal, January 03 2020:
Owing to the failure of Government Departments concerned to do the needful despite specific instructions from the High Court of Manipur concerning various PILs, one RK Premjit has conveyed that he will be forced to approach the Supreme Court if the authorities concerned still remain unperturbed.
Speaking to media persons, the petitioner RK Premjit of Keishamthong Longjam Leirak, said that he had filed five separate PILs on various issues before the High Court and after going through the cases, the Court had made positive observations thereby directing the authorities concerned to conduct enquiries or initiate necessary measures.
Stating that the High Court had even disposed the PIL after giving necessary instructions, he explained that one of his PILs had alleged that the benefits meant for the farmers under Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY) for the year 2009 to 2012, had not reached the intended target group at 53 Assembly Constituencies of the State, even though the Central Government had sanctioned all the necessary items to the State Agriculture Department.
Another PIL concerning the Department of Fisheries claimed that there were certain issues plaguing the Department like giving loans in the name of people who are no longer alive, taking loans without the knowledge of the people involved as well as failure to provide the loan amount to the beneficiaries etc.
He continued that one of his PILs concerns funds which were taken out for the construction or repairing of nonexistent Anganwadi Centres, failure to consistently provide the salaries of the employees and lack of proper facilities and infrastructure.
One of the PILs dealt with issue of giving scholarships by MOBC to individuals who were supposedly pursuing MBBS at PGI Chandigarh despite the institution being only for Post Graduate and above, while another PIL made allegations about people not being provided 100 days of employment/labour under MGNREGA as well as using machineries for the works under the said scheme.
Premjit further explained that among his numerous PILs, the CBI has started investigating the charges against MDS and LDA.
He then cautioned that he will be forced to approach the Supreme Court if the State Government Departments concerned fail to do the needful despite clear instructions from the High Court.
