Works Minister K Ranjit personally visited and inspected the work progress of seven bridges being constructed at different places under Non-Lapsable Central Pool of Resources (NLCPR).
The seven bridges covered during the Minister's inspection tour included those being constructed at Kyamgei over Imphal river at an estimated cost of Rs 4.71 crores, at Babu Bazar over Thoubal river (estimated cost Rs 2.92 crores), at Haokha over Thoubal river (estimated cost Rs 2.75 crores), Yairipok bridge (estimated cost Rs 6.97 crores), at Heirok Chingdongpok over Thoubal river (estimated cost Rs 2.20 crores), at Thoubal Leishangthem over Thoubal river (estimated cost Rs 3.40 crores) and at Irang Ichil (estimated cost Rs 3.34 crores).

Speaking to media persons who were accompanying him, Ranjit said that all the bridges under construction except the one at Irang Ichil can be completed by December this year.
Peeved at the slow pace of construction work and use of non-standard stone, sand etc at Irang Ichil, Ranjit expressed his dismay to the officials concerned.
For these anomalies, a show cause notice would be sent to the agency concerned, he added.
Informing that plans have been made to expand NH-39 from Canchipur to Pallel by 15 feet on each side, K Ranjit said that survey work has also been initiated to assess the figure of land and standing properties that would be affected by NH 39 .
To remove the blind turn along NH 39 at Waithou by expanding the highway at the point by 20 metres towards the hills, cutting of hill-sides has begun from yesterday, Ranjit said.
He also made a direct inspection of the hill-side cutting work.
Following a complaint from a local club about non-maintenance of quality in the black-topping work of Nongmeibung Nambam Chuthek road, Ranjit also visited the road.
Observing potholes filled up by using jute bags and plastics, the Works Minister gave instruction to black-top the road anew.
He said that necessary actions will be initiated against the concerned Mohori and SO.
