State works minister, K Ranjit today expressed dissatisfaction on seeing little progress in the construction work of the bridge across the Thoubal river at Irang Echin even he was satisfied with the progress construction works of other bridges with the funds from the Non-Lapsable Central Pool of Resource (NLCPR).
Dissatisfied on seeing little progress in the work, the minister instructed officials of the state PWD department, the implementing agency and contractor to make progress so that it could be completed within March next year.

He also warned to black list the contractor if not efforted to meet with the target.
Minister, K Ranjit along with the officials of the state PWD department visited bridges constructed across rivers at various places.
He visited the progress works of the construction of bridges across the Thoubal river Leishangthem, at Babu Bazar, at Haokha, bridges across the Imphal river at Kiyamgei and bridge across the Heirok river.
The said bridges are among the bridges which the construction works have been taken up with the funding of the NLCPR and targeting to complete by March next year, 2010 .
Construction works of most of the bridges have completed from 60 to 85 percent so far, Ranjit said adding that however the construction work at Irong Echin across the Thoubal bridge is only 30 percent completed.
He put down various questions on why the progress of works is very slow.
Is there any intervention from underground elements? If not all concerns should try their best to complete within the targeted period and gave strong instruction to make progress the works.
As a part of the inspection, minister also inspected road improvement works taken up on the stretch of the Nh-39 at Waithou Chingkon.
Observing that the portion of the stretch has been a place for frequent accident owing to the blind corner, he suggested the necessary for expanding about 20 meter cutting on the hill side.
He also said that government has planned to expand the Indo-Myanmar section of the NH-39 from Canchipur to Pallel with 15 feet wide from the median on both sides.
Government is also ready for payment of compensation to the land to be affected while expansion of road is taken up.
The minister also inspected construction works of the laboratory of the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) at Porompat.
During the visit, he said that the installation of infrastructures at the gynae ward of the hospital which was started from December 2008 will be completed by June this year.
While inspecting the newly black topping works at Nongmeibung area which he found not controlling the quality, he instructed to make it.
