Imphal, July 20 2011:
Along with staging a sit-in-protest in denunciation of the delay in declaring result of the DPC conducted for recruitment of Jail Department personnel at Singjamei Chingamakhong today, JAC for Manipur Jail Department DPC Faced Candidates has threatened to launch economic blockade on both the National Highways from July 25 in case the result is not announced without further delay.
speaking to newspersons at the protest site today, JAC secretary Thingom Roshan said DPC process had been carried out in 2008 and 2009 for induction of 500 Jail Department personnel including assistant jailer, head warder, warder, cook, barber, sweeper, driver, LDC, pharmacist, electrician, water carrier and mali (gardener).
As expectation that the DPC result would be declared failed to materialise, a JAC delegation had submitted memorandum to the chief Minister on two occasions with the first representation evoking an assurance from O Ibobi Singh, who also reiterated that every relevant process would be initiated for announcing the result on completion of the Imphal Municipal Council elections, Roshan maintained.

With the DPC result yet to be declared inspite of over a month since the IMC poll process has been completed, JAC members decided to stage a sit-in-protest today to highlight plight of the candidates and expose discriminatory attitude of the Govt against the citizens, he reasoned.
In continuation of the agitation economic blockade will be enforced on both National Highway 39 and 53 from July 25 onwards and any unwanted consequences arising out of the blockade should be owned by the State Government, the secretary said.
