Imphal, July 20 2011:
Manipur's state flower Shirui lily also known as Siroy Lily will have a prominent appearance with more than 50 Shirui flowers sculpted in the interior dome of the state's new assembly hall which is under construction at Chingmeirong in Imphal, once its proposal is approved.
The interior dome on the other hand will have symbols representing 35 recognized tribes of the state including the majority Meiteis and Meitei-Pangals while designing the decoration of its interior dome.
However a debate has been floated whether the assembly home may miss symbols representing the Khoibu tribe in the design or following Tengnoupal assembly constituency MLA Morung Makung's opposition that the tribe was not duly recognised.
The observations were made during a presentation session on design decoration of the interior dome of the new assembly building during CM, O Ibobi Singh's inspection programme today.
It is also learnt that the Chief Minister is expected to convene another meeting to finalise the design works of the dome and main doors.
Today's brief presentation session was attended by Speaker I Hemochandra, ministers and other MLAs who opined to drop symbols representing Angami and Sema tribes.
MPCC chief, Gaikhangam who attended the session advised the artistes to use 'Rongmei' instead of 'Kabui' and replace the word 'Kacha Naga'.
Similarly the preliminary meeting also advised to use 'Thangal' instead of 'Koirro' .
The team of artistes led by Banomani of Sharma Arts and Crafts House, Khongman with renowned researchers Mutua Bahadur and Y Gyaneshwor, Dr Ruma and K Tejmani as its consultants have beautifully prepared and presented the design decoration of the 78 feet diameter interior dome by using 569 different symbols including state animal(Sangai), state bird (Nongyeen), state fish (Pengba) and state flower (Shirui lily)besides other tribe symbols.
