Death anniversary of Namthiurai Abonmei held in Tamenglong

The All Naga Students' Association Manipur, ANSAM today richly organized 6th Death Anniversary of Martyrdom Lt Namthiurai Abonmei who had died in response to his innate called for the cause Naga nation.
A floral and wreaths along with gun salute was richly paid to the martyr at his tom and memorial stone site and main function was held at Indoor Stadium Tamenglong.
Late Eno Namthiurei Abonmei s/o Kaibonang lost his precious life when the Meiteis protest the ceasefire extension without territorial limits between GoI and NSCN: IM under slogan 'there is no Naga in Manipur' and the violent agitators burnt down state assemble hall, Indian tri- colours and many other lost 18 innocent lives and the state government officially declared June 18 as state holiday in honour of uprising and recognizing the anti- ceasefire rioters and anti- nationalist as martyrs, to end this ANSAM and the Naga people in protest against the declaration launched an economic blockade on National Highway 53 and 39 however, the state government ignored and used forces to sabotage the Naga peace process and decided to take up challenge and single handled dismantled the bridge at Irang and lost his life.
The United Naga Council, Naga Students' Federation, Naga Women's Union and All Zeliangrong Students' Union (AMN) expressed their solidarity message.
Social leaders and students packed the Indoor Stadium Tamenglong to paid honour to the departed soul of Lt Eno Namthiurei Abonmei.
A souvenir also released to commemorates on the occasion.
Guru Rewben Mashangva and the Redeemed Band performed on the occasion.
As a tribute to the martyr, Paulring Langhu, the former President of ANSUM said that the little progress we could make is because of those who had sacrificed their life for the cause of the Nagas.
He expressed his sadness over the loss of Eno.
Abonmai and said that his sacrifice will never be forgotten.
He said that we need to keep up the spirit of fighting for the right cause and stand up with what we can for the future generation.
Meanwhile the Naga Peoples Movement for Human Rights in a press released said that the Nagas' struggle for their rights and justice have seen the loss of many lives.
Among them, there are individuals, ordinary in every respect, yet whose supreme sacrifice elevates them to the heights of extraordinary heroes.
Namthuirei Abonmei is one such extraordinary hero.
The Nagas are at a critical juncture where we are beset by forces within and without to prevent us from exercising our freedom and liberty.
We are witness to the communal, parochial and hegemonic policies of the Government of Manipur to appease and fulfill the needs of only the majority community.
In the process, Nagas are perpetually denied their rights, the released said.
The sacrifice of Namthuirei Abonmei's life was not for an empty reason.
The sacrifice of his life was not for a pointless struggle.
The sacrifice of his life was not for a futile pursuit.
His ultimate sacrifice is grounded in the reality of the Nagas' struggle for our rights, liberty and justice.
His sacrifice is founded on the Nagas' fight for our identity, our land, our self-determination, the released said.
NPMHR salutes and thanks his family for raising such a fine son.
NPMHR also pays respect and homage to his wife and children for allowing his sacrifice.
Let us never forget our history for that would be an insult to the sacrifice of Namthuirei Abonmei.
Long live the sacrifice of Namthuirei Abonmei.
