Transporters launch stir

Demanding the cancellation of 16 contract carriage permits issued to Tata Winger operators which are said to operate between Kakching Khunou and Imphal by the State Transport Authority and immediate formulation of a State transport policy, the Indo-Burma Sugnu Road Bus Owners' Welfare Union has launched an agitation from today.
As part of the agitation, members of IBSRBOWA parked their vehicles at Thoubal parking in Keishampat blocking the road at the entrance to the State BJP office.
At the same time, the traffic police personnel under the supervision of DSP (Traffic) Victoria have confiscated 2/3 vehicles, which were parked at Thoubal parking, using a crane.

Meanwhile, speaking to reporters, secretary of IBSRBOWA, Th Radheshyam Singh said the agitation would be carried on till the State transport authority revokes the carrier permits issued to Winger operators.
He said the union would intensify the agitation by surrendering all 116 buses to the Transport department.
Radheshyam further said that members of All Manipur Bus Owners' Federation would endorse and support the agitation from tomorrow.
