Cease work against non-payment of salary

Imphal, March 11 2013:
Demanding payment of their pending salaries for the last 11 months, members of All Manipur Revised National Tuberculosis Control Policy Contractual Workers Welfare Union have launched an indefinite cease work strike from today.
The indefinite cease work strike started along with a sit-in-protest demonstration staged by around 118 members of the Union at the office of District TB Centre Imphal West at Lamphelpat here today.
Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of the protest demonstration, T Lenindro, General Secretary of All Manipur Revised National Tuberculosis Control Policy Contractual Workers Welfare Union, informed that with implementation of Revised National Tuberculosis Control Policy (RNTCP) scheme of Government of India in the State, the staffs of the Union have been rendering services to the TB patients of the State.
However, the monthly salaries of 118 staffs have not been paid for the last 11 months since April 2012 .
He further informed that though the State Cabinet has given approval for sanctioning of the required funds for payment of salaries to the contractual workers, the Finance Department has been holding back the funds.
