Imphal, March 11 2013:
A ten-day training programme for candidates who would give the next Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) in Meitei Mayek was opened today at Asha-Jina complex, North AOC.
It is for the second time that the MEELAL is organising such training programmes.
Speaking as chief guest at the opening function of the training programme MLA N Biren said that people should not harbour any notion of getting employment because one is Meitei Mayek literate.
He appealed to all the people to work for promotion and development of the mother tongue.
He hailed MEELAL for its efforts towards promoting Meitei Mayek and for translating into action what late Chief Minister Yangmasho Saiza pledged during his chief ministership for promotion of the same language.
The function was also attended by MEELAL president Sadokpam Tomba Mangang and ZEO Zone-I Manimohan as president and guest of honour respectively.
