Imphal, March 11 2013:
Revamping the earlier State Government website, a new official website of the State Government was launched today by Chief Minister O Ibobi.
The new website, manipur.gov.in, launched today would be maintained by Department of Information and Technology, Govt of Manipur.
The State Government website has been in existence for quite a while under the administrative control of National Informatics Centre (NIC) Manipur Unit.
Being a Government of India entity, it was difficult for the NIC to coordinate with all the Government Departments and agencies for updated information to be uploaded on the website on regular basis.

Besides, manipur.gov.in, another website manipurportal.mn.gov.in has also been maintained by the DIT where a citizen can avail of online services.
Application to these services are online and can be done through the Common Service Centres which are equipped with VSATs.
At present, 40 services of seven depts are available and 25 more services would be added during 2013-14 .
With the launch of the State Government website as a part of implementing e-governance, transparent, efficient and cost effective governance, as can only be provided by e-governance, is no longer a dream.
