At least 13 major surgical operations have been performed at Tamenglong district hospital during a surgical camp specially organised in view of the absence of modern healthcare facilities at the district headquarters.
District Mission Director Dr Chambo Gonmei said that a surgical camp was held at Tamenglong district hospital on May 8 and 9 together with a team of doctors headed by JNIMS Associate Professor (Surgery) Dr N Jitendra.
Some major operations performed at the camp were about removal of calculus from gall bladder, appendix, Caesarian Section for child delivery etc.
So far 180 people have been operated during the camp launched since June 2013, Dr Chambo said.
He informed that Tamenglong district hospital is now facing lots of inconveniences because some doctors posted at the hospital have left the hospital for pursuing PG courses.
He also highlighted the need to post adequate number of nurses and other paramedical staff at all PHCs and PHSCs of the district.
