Imphal, May 10 2015 :
Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO) General Headquarters has urged the Manipur Government to fulfill its demands at an earliest in view of the impending indefinite economic blockade to be imposed by the student body along Sadar Hills section of the National Highway-2 .
The public discontentment and uproar in Sadar Hills of Senapati district has come to the fore after the life attempt on the chief of Lalloiphai village and a van driver by a mob at Moidangpok on May 2 .
Even after a 24-hour general strike enforced by KSO Sadar Hills in Sadar Hills area over the incident, the Government is not still bothering to look into the matter and meet the demands raised by the student body, a statement said on Sunday.
The KSO has already announced that it will launch an indefinite economic blockade along NH-2 (Imphal-Dimapur road) from midnight of May 11 over the impasse.
"This attitude of the Government is risky and dangerous as it could further worsen the present situation", KSO cautioned and said the organization wanted an amicable solution to the issue and does not want to make the issue "communal" or force the land and people to plunge into a state of chaos.
KSO said the Government's failure to deal with the issue is "highly objectionable and reminded that the van driver is still in hospital fighting for his life.
If the Government remains indifferent towards the issue without initiating any action to fulfill the demands of the KSO Sadar Hills, the KSO General Headquarters will be forced to take the matter into its own hands, the statement signed by Seiboi Haokip, General Secretary, KSO General Headquarters, pledged.
