Kuki Inpi, Kuki Chiefs' Association condemn

A joint meeting of the Kuki Inpi and Kuki Chiefs' Association Tamenglong district and Jiri zone condemned frequent kidnapping of labourers and staff members of companies which are undertaking construction works on the Jiri-Tupul railway line.
The meeting demanded that all concerned clarify such kidnapping incidents to public and urged the particular 'underground group or gang' not to continue such anti-social activities in future, Kuki Inpi, Tamenglong District & Jiri Zone Information & Publicity Secretary� Lenlun Haokip told JNN.
He vowed that the two Kuki bodies would not spare individuals who are found involved in the criminal activities.
On the ensuing Autonomous District Council (ADC) polls to be held on June 1, Lenlun urged the electorate to exercise their franchise in a peaceful way and called on all candidates to contest peacefully.
The two organisations also said they would not support any candidates in the coming polls.
2 kidnapped labourers freed
Two labourers reportedly kidnapped by suspected Kuki underground cadres were freed on Saturday night in Kangpokpi area.
About six armed men kidnapped the duo from IT Road Toinembi Hanghai Veng under Kangpokpi Police Station in Senapati district on May 6 night.
They were released by the kidnappers around 9:30 pm in jungle area of Kangpokpi, police sources said.
