I shall discharge my duty fearlessly: CIC Th Ibobi

The newly appointed Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) Th Ibobi in a felicitation function held on Sunday at the residence of Potsangbam Dhanakumar, IPS, Ngangom Leikai said that he would discharge his duty fearlessly.
The CIC was felicitated by the Nambul Mapal Athletic and Cultural Organisation.
He said that in order to implement the RTI Act in Manipur, he was appointed in this constitutional post.
The Parliament had passed the RTI Act to create awareness among the people and transparency in the government works.
All government office and NGOs which get government support are governed by this Act.
A citizen can seek information from a department through PIO and the questions should be replied within 30 days.

If a citizen is not satisfied he may go to the higher officer or the CIC.
He sought cooperation from the people in various programmes the CIC takes up to furnish information to the questioners.
The RTI Act may be sometimes misused to settle personal scores, he cautioned.
The UCM President Elangbam Johnson said that the objective of making government works transparent is to root out corruption.
It was welcome that Th Ibobi was made the CIC to the post which has been vacant for two and a half years.
It is hoped that he will play a big role in setting things right.
LC Santosh, the DESAM adviser recalled that many sections of people had urged the government to fill up the vacant post to ensure transparency in the government works.
He hoped that the CIC would play a pivotal role in narrowing down corruption.
The IPAK president Sapamcha Jadumani said that all works will be successful if these are based on nationalism.
He hoped that the new CIC will do in this line.
Chief conservator of forest Mahendra Pratap recalled that while in service in the forest department Ibobi took keen interest in the welfare of the state.
As a resource person he had attended seminars overseas even.
He was confident that as the CIC he will do many things for the welfare of the state.
Dhanakumar, IPS, handed a bouquet and citation to the new CIC during the felicitation.
Social worker Laishram Debo was the guest of honour and the NACO adviser and renowned footballer Oinam Yaiskul presided over the function.
